Obituary of Jonathan Peter Taylor

Please share a memory of Jonathan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jonathan Peter Taylor, age 71, of Norwalk, CT passed away on April 12, 2024 after an 18-month battle with renal cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Jonathan was born on January 15, 1953 in Norwalk, CT. He graduated from Staples High School in 1971 and soon began working at Norwalk Auto Parts. Throughout his time there, he wore many hats: driver, salesman, manager and owner. He remained in the auto parts industry until his retirement in 2021.

He first met his wife, Diane, in 1974 at a New Year’s party held by his boss, who happened to be Diane’s uncle. For both of them, it was love at first sight, and they were married in September of 1976.

Jonathan loved the Beatles, the Yankees, music—especially the music of the 60s and 70s—cars, and UCONN basketball. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku and the daily Jumble. He was an avid bowler for many years. On the weekends, you’d find him on the sidelines of various sports games, no matter which sport his children or grandchildren were playing. He made everyone laugh with his unique sense of humor.

Above everything, Jonathan was devoted to his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Jessica Taylor, Kelly (Kenny) Taylor, Jonathan (Cheryl) Taylor, Melissa (DJ) Ortiz; his grandchildren: Ellie and Addison DeLong, Connor and Callen Segers, Evan and Colin Taylor, Charlie, Ryan and Jett Ortiz. His siblings include: Diane Gilbertie, Toni Taylor, Pamela Taylor, Dennis Taylor (Cindy), Jan Taylor, Shane Mraz (Will), Holly Taylor Hornyak and Brian Taylor. He was predeceased by brothers Thomas Taylor and Bret Taylor and sister Timmy Taylor Webb as well as his in-laws, William Anthony and Margaret Anthony-Fagan. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Frank and the amazing staff at the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center. The family will receive friends on Friday April 26, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Rd Darien, CT.
