Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Tom Dempsey of St. Augustine, FL, passed away on May 2, after battling prostate cancer. Tom was a loving and caring husband to his wife of 44 years, Susan "Sue" Felder Dempsey and is already deeply missed.

Tom was born in Greenwich, CT and moved to Stamford while in elementary school. He attended KT Murphy Elementary and Burdick Middle schools before graduating from Stamford High in 1974, and later from Western Connecticut State College with a degree in History. He remained a history buff throughout his life, especially American History and he was also a big baseball fan (St. Louis Cardinals) and oldies music enthusiast from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Tom met Sue, the love of his life, while a high school senior, and they married shortly after their college years. In the early 1990s, after starting a family, they moved to Florida.

Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, Helen Gregor Dempsey (1992) and Eugene Dempsey (2003). In addition to Sue, Tom is survived by daughter, Katheryn Dempsey, and his beautiful grandchildren, Grace and Elijah, all of Ocala, Florida. He is also survived by a brother, Greg Dempsey of Stamford and his wife Meg and children, Kim, Helen and Will, as well as his mom's sister, Margaret Chernek, 102, of Stamford, and many cousins. Calling hours will be Friday, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home at 2119 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT.
